About Rachel Horne

Rachel's son, Wells, was diagnosed in August 2017 in Charleston, South Carolina, after whole-exome sequencing identified a PPM1D diagnosis. There were still many unanswered questions at the time.

Connecting with other families has helped Rachel remain hopeful and inspired her commitment to building a foundation that can make a diagnosis feel less isolating. Her family continues to navigate the special-education and IEP process alongside Wells.

Rachel holds a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and has taught kindergarten and preschool. Her experience as an educator and parent informs the foundation's family-focused work.
